New Zealand have been unbeaten throughout the tournament and they will be looking to keep that stat as it is by winning the semifinal against England. However, England have had a rough battle and they fought hard to get their spot in the semifinals and will be expected to give hard time to the Kiwis.
New Zealand were restricted to a small total by the Indians in their first match and they still manage to win that game but after that they have been unstoppable and have simply thrashed the opponents in all the games they have played ever since. So, now their confidence will be sky high as they take on England, a side that struggled its way through to the semis. New Zealand will be expecting a big knock from Martin Guptill who won the game for them single-handedly against Pakistan by scoring 80 runs at the top. Kane Williamson has expressed his brilliance in some matches by short elegant knocks but he has not been able to provide them with that big knock he is known for. It’s high time for him to come up with something like that now. Ross Taylor and Corey Anderson have also scored runs and will be expected to play handy knocks in the big game against England.

Grant Elliott and Ish Sodhi bowled splendidly in the last match against Bangladesh and picked up 3 wickets each. Elliott was more economical as he conceded just 12 runs in his 4 overs. However, Mitchell Santner has been their leading wicket taker in the tournament and he will be expected to play some tricks to make life harder for the English batsmen.
The problem with England so far in this tournament has been that one day they are at their best and the very next day they collapse against a side like Afghanistan. So, they are lacking consistency but still it is true that they have played some wonderful cricket in the tournament as chasing down 230 runs target against South Africa certainly takes some effort. They will be depending majorly on Joe Root who has been their main run scorer in this tournament so far and he anchored the win against South Africa by scoring 83 runs as well. Moeen Ali also played a great role by scoring an unbeaten 42 against Afghanistan as he rescued his side to an important win. Buttler played an unbeaten knock of 66 against Sri Lanka in the last match. Roy has also played handy knocks at the top and will be expected to help them post a big score on the board against New Zealand in the semifinal.
As for their bowling, Chris Jordan and David Willey picked up 6 wickets among them. Adil Rashid was expensive and wicket less in the last match against Sri Lanka. However, he has bowled impressively in the earlier matches and will be expected to provide crucial breakthroughs in this match as well.
Williamson has been leading the Kiwis perfectly and played a big knock against Bangladesh in the last match. He will be expected to lead his side to the final berth.
Eoin Morgan has found a way to take his side to the semis but his own performance is still under the shadow. He is expected to make a big come back in the semifinal.
